Coffee Clatch Tribulations

Coffee Clatch Tribulations

Decaf on a Friday Afternoon
Today I thought a break from the usual Wine Fridays was in order. A suburban office catastrophe captured my imagination, and I thought I’d share a rather odd revelation.
The email went out:
“Today, I had the good fortune to walk into the first floor kitchen and see hot coffee pouring all over the counter. Exciting, right!? (Curvymama had a similarly alarming experience a couple of weeks ago.)
Well, there’s nothing quite like having to move fast when you haven’t had your morning brew yet.
Identifying the Problem: I noticed that because the coffee pot thermos had been just a tiny bit out-of-place (a little less than ½”)—basically not complete set back in the little space that the coffee apparatus requires—the coffee flow began pouring into the thermos’ outer ring. Within about only a ¼ of a cup worth of outflow, the coffee began cascading like the Niagara in springtime after a snowy winter’s thaw.
Recommended Solution: The solution to keeping the thermos in a state of readiness—a container that gives so many of us great comfort each morning—may be to watch for an extra :30 seconds or so to make sure the water we pour in the top is actually descending directly into the hole in the top of the thermos.
Thanks for your continued efforts to keep the ‘thermos of java harmony’ happy and full!”

“If you must overflow the coffee pot do it when Matthew is around! Not only did he clean the spilled coffee up, but he proceeded to lift the semi-full pot up to dump the overflow. The overflow was a good part of the brewed coffee so that took a roll of paper towels.
Cheers to Matthew!”
Curvymama replied: “I adore this message.”
My mission was accomplished. Now… I’m not sure anyone will actually do this, but at least my writing is getting better…folks read what I write more than they used to!
I hope you enjoy these random acts of writing as much as I enjoy writing them. Have a great weekend, faithful following fooders!
